Confirmation Day!

Today is the day that the Lord has made!
Being the oldest of parents who are involved in helping adults prepare to receive the sacrament of confirme, has lead my son to DESIRE even more of God.  For several years he had yearned to receive the fullness of God.  After writing a letter to our parish priest and archdiocese I was left feeling in awe, perhaps similar to what St. Therese father would of felt assisting her on her journey.   After some formation at a local church and lots of dialogue (Q & A), a great experience at the NES2016 (a great shut out to Christopher West, thank you for being the insteument of God in speaking into his heart as only God could).....  Now, is the day on which Jacob will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Archbishop Terrance will slide the chrism oil (true presence of the Holy Spirit) onto my son standing by his side will be Sr. Francis, Queenship of Mary community.  Jacob choose Sr. Francis since she has known him since he was little (age 2) and he sees her living a life full of faith.
We are celebrating the PullPork with none other then Guy's Burgers BBQ sauce! Receiving the sacrament with loved ones present, then off to a special spot for McFlurries!
Please keep us in our prayers, Especially Jacob as we deepens his relationship with God.

Homeschooling Revival

Well we are about to embark on our second and 1/2 year of homeschooling.

This year we will be following the curriculum from Learning Adventures with some tweaks from me.

We will be spending 13 weeks in Ancient Egypt.  Doing one somewhat related field trip a week.  One group activity at home, watch out for invites.

We will then spend 3 weeks on Advent, followed by one week of serving families at Waupoos Family Farm for Christmas.

We will spend one week enjoying the octave of Christmas, then one week enjoying Ephiphany.

We will then embark a 10 week journey to Ancient Greece.

Taking 1 week off for March Break.

We will also be pausing to enjoy the flavor of Holy Week followed by the celebration of the Octave of Easter.

We will make our way  to Ancient Rome for 10 weeks.  With a pause at between week 5 and 6 to vacation with the Wild Horses at Assateague Island National Seashore .

We will then enjoy the summer air.

Keep posted for more info. and pictures.

Meeting expectation?

Day 2 of our mini holiday was spent doing some shopping and then visiting our friend Bubbely at the Syracuse zoo.

Lessons learnt thanks to this day:
The children received some money for Christmas. The boys had allowed said money to burn a whole in their pocket instead of saving it for the trip. (they did buy great things one a plant and the other Beta fish now named "Deigo the fish" and all his needed equipment). As usual, The girls helded on go their money - it is know in our family that Miss E is a magnet to money, she finds it everywhere and then squirrels it away to be able to buy a cat and all what it needs!

On the shopping part of our trip the children found the Dreamlites which they had been wishing to get for Christmas, but Santa had not brought, as they are hard to get in Canada. This stuffy/toy lights up stars on the ceiling of the room and can change the colour of the display. Miss E gladly picked a unicorn one, proud that she had enough money to get one. The boys ended up pooling their money together and managed to buy one to share. Hubby placed them in the van. We continued our journey towards home with a stop at the zoo.

When the time came to open the Dreamlites and insert appropriate batteries it was discovered that neither of them worked. The boys' lights up but does not allow you to set it up as it says and Miss E's doesn't even light up. Ouch! She has taken it fairly well, shedding a few tears of deep disappointment that something she wished for a long time (a couple of months) then got it but it did not meet her expectation. Oh how real life lessons are tough to watch.

I have emailed the company as they advertise a 60 day satisfaction guarantee. We shall see what they do about it.

Here are some picture of the zoo

Exploring

My family and I have returned from exploring Rochester NY. Our destination was the Strong's Museum of Play, the children love it there, and to be honest me and Joey love it too!
While eating breakfast on the day of the museum, Master

D ( also known as I love Deigo) stated very firmly that there was no way that he was going to the Musuem he wanted to go straight to the hotel. Hubby and I in unison stated that we are a family and this is a family activity we are all going to the museum. He protested and we ignored.
A few hours later as we turned into the parking lot of the

museum we are greeted by a big banner. On temporary display is a whole exhibit on.... Dora and Deigo, go exploring. Master D, was so excited he was squeaking and jumping up and down in his seat. Again in unison, this time with Grandpa joining, we said, " oh no, D we are dropping off everyone but you are going straight to the hotel!
Did we let him in not. We are a family, hence we did, it

was a fantastic lesson in not judging a book by it's cover.
